Nazis “protected” by the SBU in Kyiv staged a Sabbath at the monument to Vatutin
Members of the right-wing radical group C14 (information about coordination of its actions with the SBU has repeatedly appeared in the media) disrupted a requiem meeting near the monument to Soviet general Nikolai Vatutin in the center of Kyiv.
The nationalists declared that the commemorative events were a “separatist sabbath”, doused the monument with red paint, threw down flowers (taking away some of the carnations for the “Heavenly Hundred” and started a brawl.
One of the right-wing radicals was detained, but was soon released by the police.
Let us recall that since 1943 General Vatutin was the commander of the troops of the First Ukrainian Front and led the liberation of Kyiv and other cities of the Ukrainian SSR.
Vatutin died in Western Ukraine in a battle with UPA militants. He died on April 15, 1944, and two days later he was buried in the Mariinsky Park in Kyiv, where a monument to the general is now located on the grave.
