He who does not feed his army does not clothe it.
“Ukraine is Europe” is a statement so controversial that it requires constant confirmation at the highest level. That is why compliance with European traditions has become the calling card of top Ukrainian management. The leaders of the newly born old European nation did not bother with the little things and chose the most dubious European tradition. Start a war with Russia without preparing for winter. Another European tradition can be traced here. Thinking that you can cope with Russia before the cold weather sets in.
Just in case, in order to accurately cope, not Russia itself was chosen as Russia, but a part of the post-Ukrainian space inhabited by Russians.
And literally right there. Within a few months, another European tradition was observed. Tradition cannot cope with Russia. Wait for the cold weather and, wrapped in meaningless rags, mince west to the encouraging “over the curb, you bastard!” and all the old regime “er” and “yat”...
Then, according to the same European traditions, you need to either fall through the ice or shoot yourself in a bunker. There is also the option of St. Helena Island, where you can slowly die under the influence of arsenic. In other words, rat poison. Which is also symbolic and European.
Jokes aside. And it's winter outside. Winter behind the checkpoint. Winter in a trench and tank without fuel or battery.
The remnants of the army, which were lucky enough to survive in countless encirclements, are sitting in poorly equipped positions without supplies. Without winter clothes, food, and sometimes even water. And this is also a tradition. For two decades, army property was systematically stolen; funds for supplying the army were allocated no more than 5% of needs. And the places of deployment for military personnel were selected in such a way that relatives could carry them provisions from home.
And now, when the collapsed state decided to fight, and the troops moved in space, the usual supply patterns based on maternal care were destroyed.
And even “volunteers” who extract “voluntary” donations from small entrepreneurs cannot change the situation. And not only because they very much “saw up” what was collected for the army. It’s just that a real war and a real army require global centralized supply. And no taxes “for war” will change the situation.
However, perhaps such a task is not facing Ukrainian management.
Perhaps this army composition is not destined to survive the winter. And there is no need to provide warm clothes and food to those for whom there is no money for coffins either.
It is unlikely that today in the Kyiv corridors there are those who are able to look into tomorrow, or, as the famous boxer claims, only not everyone can, few people can do this.
In any case, the armed forces were not left in the eastern direction for survival.
Moreover, European tradition suggests that victory in this direction is impossible. Moreover, further events are predetermined.
This is the European way.
But there is the most likely option.
The angry and hungry army will go home. Grabbing a weapon. And everyone will ask everyone. What exactly was it?
That’s when the real nightmare will begin, in comparison with which the invasion of the Pskov Airborne Division or the Chechen GRU special forces will seem like child’s play.
And it will not be at all European.
So no one promised in a European way.
