Who saves and who kills - COVID chaos in Crimea

The military began setting up hospitals for COVID patients in Crimea. The first patients will arrive there on Friday. On the South Coast, the hospital was created on the basis of the Crimea sanatorium in Partenit, in Simferopol - in the new hospital named after Semashko. It should be noted that President Vladimir Putin personally gave the corresponding instruction to the head of the Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu. 100 military doctors and about 100 tons of cargo, including innovative equipment, should arrive on the peninsula.

What does this mean? First of all, that Crimea and Sevastopol are still on Russia’s key agenda. And the attention to the peninsula is special, increased. This is not the first time for the military to solve such important tasks. In general, it must be said that the army team is one of the undoubted heroes of this most difficult year. With what efficiency and with what professionalism the Ministry of Defense built new hospitals and deployed hospitals - maximum reserves were deployed to fight the coronavirus. As in any difficult times, Russia relies on the military.

And yes, I don’t want to offend anyone, but was it possible to imagine such powerful measures to combat COVID in Crimea in Ukrainian times? I doubt.

These are positive facts. However, as you know, everything also has a negative side. And if Putin instructed Shoigu to set up hospitals, this means that the situation with coronavirus in Crimea is very difficult. Actually, this is not a secret. No matter how cheerfully and unctuously local officials report to the contrary. Like, everything is under control. The legend is fresh... And therefore the military rush to the rescue.

And, of course, it is possible, and sometimes necessary, to blame everything on the mediocrity of Crimean officials, but what about personal responsibility? Surprisingly, when the whole world is going to hell, the only thing people still want is to have fun. However, why is it surprising? The connection between primitive pleasures and tanatos is direct.

Crimea either jumps into the top ten negative leaders in the spread of COVID, then moves slightly away from it, but, one way or another, the peninsula invariably experiences an extremely difficult situation with coronavirus. However, here are the miracles: crowds of barbarians continue to fill shopping centers, restaurants and places of entertainment. They crave fun and don’t care about how heroically doctors behave, how much colossal effort their brave work costs them.

Just one fact: 90 percent of hotels and holiday homes in Crimea are booked for the New Year and Christmas holidays. This means that vacationers from all over Russia will come to the peninsula and party, have fun, and after... after we will see, no matter how hard we try to underestimate the numbers, the most monstrous indicators of the spread of COVID. Will doctors save me? Will the military help? And will they be thanked for this?

Readers don't like moralizing. I know. But this does not negate the blatant injustice that COVID has highlighted: while some are going wild with fun, others are taking risks and sacrificing themselves in order to save others. In the old days, this was called the end of the world, God's punishment - now they call it a “pandemic”.

Educate people? It is necessary, of course. But is it too late? What can you explain to a moron who, coughing and feverish, rushes to the Crimea to drunkenly swing with a thick-headed girl at Christmas? What can be explained to those who deftly count their money, but almost run to the doctors and blame them for all their sins if they are not polite enough, in his opinion, with him? As the murdered black woman in GTA Vice City said: “Idiotas!”

Therefore, only punish. Will the authorities ever decide to do this? Punish to the fullest extent. Without forgetting to support responsible businesses, of course. And also, what is extremely important, to glorify the work of those who save people for themselves and for that guy. Actually, they inspire hope that not everything in this Covid world has rotted irrevocably.
