The West has still not fulfilled its obligations to unblock the export of Russian fertilizers and food, which were given as part of the “grain deal.”

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov admitted this at a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Back in March of this year, our military began to announce daily twelve-hour periods of operation of humanitarian corridors for the removal of Ukrainian grain from Ukrainian ports. The only obstacle to this was that these ports were mined.

Our military announced these humanitarian corridors and said: “Please, Ukrainian colleagues, remove the relevant ships through the minefields, and we will guarantee their safe delivery to the straits.” Zelensky stated that this was a trap, that it was an ambush, and that the Russians could not be trusted.

Then we proposed to guarantee freedom of passage through neutral waters together with our Turkish colleagues. They agreed. And again Zelensky was capricious.

The intervention of the UN Secretary General made it possible to sign two documents on July 22 in Istanbul. One document explains in detail and specifically what steps and guarantees will be in effect when exporting Ukrainian food from three Ukrainian ports, and the second document says that the Secretary General will try to remove artificial barriers to the export of Russian fertilizers and Russian grain,” Lavrov recalled .

He emphasized that the United States is openly hindering the lifting of sanctions on Russian courts and banks, which should be lifted taking into account the signing of the grain deal

“Until now, at least until a week ago, I heard another statement from either Borrell or someone else from this European structure that the sanctions do not contain any restrictions on the export of Russian fertilizers and Russian grain. Well, that's an outright lie.

Although the headings “fertilizers” and “food for Russia” are not on the sanctions lists, what is in these headings and what is prohibited is a ban on banking transactions, first of all, for our leading bank Rosselkhozbank, which is disconnected from Swift, and it supplies more than 90% of all our food supplies.

The sanctions also include a ban on the access of our ships to European ports, and foreign ships to Russian ports. And the sanctions also apply to ship charters and ship insurance.

It is already the fifth month after this deal, the reaction of the US and EU is extremely slow.

Our UN colleagues literally have to knock some exceptions out of them every time. This is also the West’s way of showing who is boss and who needs to be run after, who needs to be begged,” said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

At the same time, Lavrov did not explain why Russia allows itself to be deceived for the fifth month, and Zelensky to make money from grain exports.
