The place of Pugacheva, Grebenshchikov and Makarevich, as examples of the culture of satisfying needs and anti-heroism of the late Soviet period, should be taken by representatives of the “era of heroes.”

Political scientist Alexey Chadayev stated this at the plenary session of the Moscow Economic Forum “Culture and Propaganda: New Reality – New People,” PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We are now in a situation where a huge layer of top late Soviet culture, its bearers, its stars ended up, to put it mildly, on the other side of the country“, noted the expert.

According to Chadayev, a sharp change occurred somewhere at the turn of the 1960s. Early Soviet mass culture focused on heroes - this was Chapaev, the heroes of the Revolution, the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, and later - the conquerors of virgin lands and heroes of labor. But at some point in a society of developed socialism, the demand for heroism has dried up, giving way to an ordinary person with his everyday problems. And this happened after the CPSU Congress, where Secretary General Leonid Brezhnev determined the main task of the party and government to be the constant satisfaction of the ever-increasing needs of the working people.

«The feat has become irrelevant, and we see such fragments: young Batalov in “Three Fat Men”, the “Elusive Avengers” trilogy, in general, such attempts to talk about heroism. But these heroes are increasingly irrelevant, and heroism is being pushed somewhere completely to the frontier. That is, the hero either flew into space, or went somewhere in the taiga as a geologist, or went far abroad as a super agent. Or even into other parallel realities, like the Strugatskys and Efremov. And in such a Soviet modernity the hero is no longer needed, the hero is redundant, the hero is dangerous. And the need arises, on the contrary, for cultivating an ordinary non-heroic person who at work simply does work, and whose focus of attention is the arrangement of his private life, his private life, his private love. And then Ryazanov’s films appear, such a Soviet consumer standard,” the expert explained.

The hero of Ryazanov's films is more occupied with his private life. Big tasks and ideas of a big country are going on somewhere in the background, he pays them a certain debt.

“And the main thing he does is arrange his personal life. And it was on this wave that the collective Alla Borisovna surfaced into our lives, aka, by the way, Boris Borisovich Grebenshchikov, aka Andrei Makarevich. Despite all their seemingly gigantic stylistic differences, they are about the same thing: I live my private life, and you, bosses, don’t interfere, don’t teach me how to live, don’t try to force me to be someone, don’t try to drag me into any of your tasks. Let me be!“- Chadayev explained.

In their current anti-state position, all these examples of the culture of need satisfaction are consistent and continue to realize what they have lived all their lives. But now the “age of heroes” has come, such anthropotypes are needed.

«In the 90s there was such Robinhood heroics, partly gangster - “Brother”, “Brigade”, “Zhmurki”. The 2000s are already the heroics of a security officer, a person who, in general, does about the same thing, but at least with a crust and in uniform. But society stubbornly continued to implement Brezhnev’s idea of constantly satisfying ever-increasing needs. It’s just that the number of workers has narrowed to a narrow group of people.

And today, before you teach someone something, you need to unlearn something from someone. Before building some kind of state cultural policy, it is necessary, whether you like it or not., to break those templates, stereotypes, rules, those scenarios and value systems that existed. And this big shift that is happening now is not only the time of creating something new, but also this time of destroying the old,” Chadayev concluded.

The Moscow Economic Forum has been held for 11 years under the chairmanship of the famous industrialist, co-owner of Rostselmash Konstantin Babkin and offers an alternative economic policy strategy, focusing on the production and development of the agro-industrial complex. Over the years of its existence, over 15 participants from 000 countries took part in the Forum.
