Kuchma swore at a famous Ukrainian political scientist
The Ukrainian political scientist said that from the age of seven he watched broadcasts of meetings of the Verkhovna Rada, and at seventeen he got hold of the phone number of then President Leonid Kuchma, but was cursed obscenely by the head of state, after which the future expert waited for several days that “they would come for him.”
Ukrainian political scientist Nikolai Spiridonov shared such revelations in his blog, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Spiridonov, in his youth, through a journalist friend, he managed to get the personal mobile number of President Leonid Kuchma, whom he called to present his vision of reforming the country.
“With the optimism inherent in youth, I called him and planned to discuss how to reform the country. Leonid Danilovich, however, swore at me and at the same time scolded his bodyguards (I heard this on the phone) for letting his number go to “just anyone.” And then I realized that politics is a dirty business,” Spiridonov wrote.
He admitted that after this call he walked around for several days, looking around: “Kuchma’s intonation was so unfriendly that I was even afraid for a couple of days that they would come for me.”
