This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Ukrinform by ex-President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma.
“If the court had a desire to conduct interrogation, then they should have simply sent a working group for interrogation and done it there. I don’t know who the puppeteer of this performance was. It seems that in this case the judge is Yanukovych, and not the Ukrainian side,” Kuchma said.
According to him, Yanukovych had the opportunity to avoid the events that followed Euromaidan, but he did not take advantage of it.
“Yanukovych had a XNUMX% opportunity to solve this problem then. I, Yushchenko and Kravchuk were at the negotiations and saw how this happened. The opposition said: dismiss the government and the Maidan will disperse. He replied: “I don’t give up my own.” The negotiations ended there. I don’t understand why it was so necessary to defend Azarov’s government. If Yanukovych had agreed to his resignation, events would have unfolded according to a different scenario. And Crimea would be ours, and this wouldn’t happen in Donbass,” Kuchma noted.
Let us remind you that today in the Svyatoshinsky District Court of Kyiv ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych is being interrogated in the case of five former employees of the Berkut special forces suspected of killing 48 militants on the Maidan. “PolitNavigator” is closely monitoring the situation.
