Former President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma appealed to Ukrainians to come to the polling stations on the day of the presidential election on March 31 and vote for the future of the country, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Today Ukraine faces a task: which path will we choose? This is the main thing - to come to the polls and cast your vote,” Kuchma said. He emphasized, resorting to an allegory, that the country “has practically built a dividing fence” that divides it “into two Ukraines.” "It's horrible! I remember that we always had the slogan “For a united Ukraine!”, We forgot about this. But today there are really two of them, and one is trying to dictate its will to everyone, and this is a road to nowhere,” said the ex-president.
“What kind of Ukraine do we want to see? Either the Ukraine that exists today, or the one that we dream about and everyone remembers in their speeches - that we are rich, that we are so talented,” the former head of state continued.
He especially emphasized the deplorable state of affairs in the country’s economy, which has fallen “below the baseboard.” “Mechanical engineering in general today, one might say, does not exist, there are only remnants. The economy should come first today. Because when we talk about the army, how can we build the Armed Forces and a powerful army if we don’t have an economy?” - he noted.
Kuchma added that the economy should develop with the attraction of investments, but they, according to him, will not come to a country where the legal system does not work. “And without foreign investment, nothing will happen,” he said.
