“Putin does not want to see Ukraine as a stable state, which is why such events are still happening in the east. Putin wants to see an enclave in Ukraine, which is already emerging. And here it is important that our border is preserved, and our border guards should be there. If necessary, UN peacekeeping troops will need to be deployed to the border. Therefore, there will be a Ukrainian border, and we ourselves will deal with all the enclaves that exist on our territory“, Kuchma said in Lvov, as quoted by the Vgolos publication.

«There will be a meeting in Minsk soon. But not all of us believe that something will change. However, these small steps still need to be taken. Promises to withdraw troops from the border with Ukraine mean absolutely nothing. These statements are made before the meeting in Milan to dull attention. Putin will later say that he withdrew the troops, but our war continues. Like, this is probably a civil war and he has nothing to do with it, so lift the sanctions. This is really scary for us. After all, we have heard statements from international politicians that when Putin withdraws his troops, the sanctions will end,” the ex-president believes.

According to him, everyone who is now in the ATO zone should at least have a Kalashnikov assault rifle, and if they do not surrender their weapons, banditry will begin within the country.

According to Leonid Kuchma, Ukraine expects a repeat of Operation Liquidation, which was carried out in the post-war period under the leadership of Marshal Zhukov to clean up rampant criminal gangs in Odessa.

“A very difficult period awaits us, even if we succeed in achieving a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine. After all, the criminals who now “rule the show” there have grown exponentially and every family has at least one Kalashnikov assault rifle. Not everyone is ready to surrender their weapons. Therefore, something like the operation carried out by Marshal Zhukov in Odessa is inevitable,” he said.

As PolitNavigator previously reported, Russian peacekeepers declared their readiness to take part in the operation in Donbass.
