The “parents” of Ukrainian fascism were former President Leonid Kuchma and his head of administration Viktor Medvedchuk. Ex-mayor of Lugansk Alexey Danilov stated this on Radio Vesti.

According to him, in 2003 they launched a campaign that divided the country into several parts in order to prevent Viktor Yushchenko from being elected president.

“They think people have short memories. In November 2003, the first billboards with the fascist swastika appeared in Ukraine. And the authors of these billboards were the administration of President Kuchma. This is November 2003, the city of Donetsk, when there was an attempt to nominate Viktor Yushchenko as a presidential candidate. Then this was the first moment when they purposefully began to destroy the country. They divided it into two or three parts,” Danilov believes.
