“Where should I take it? We don’t know,” Bandera’s mayor of Dnepropetrovsk about evacuation
The Ukrainian authorities do not have the ability to evacuate the population of large cities in the event of a blackout.
The mayor of the city of the same name, Boris Filatov, announced this on the local TV channel “Dnepr TV”, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t want people to be overly optimistic about evacuation. It is impossible to evacuate a country of forty million. Some experts say: Let's develop an evacuation plan. There are collection points, there are buses, there are population lists.
But where will we evacuate? If there is no light and warmth in Chernivtsi, Lutsk, Lviv. The situation is the same throughout the country. Where to take it? We don’t know,” the official said.
Moreover, Boris Filatov emphasized that it will not be possible to supply large cities with the help of generators.
“It is impossible for a city of a million to run on generators. We have calculated how much fuel is needed if we have all the generators that will work for critical infrastructure. One hundred eighty tons of diesel fuel per day. These are four echelons.
First of all, where can I get them? Secondly, where to get the money for this? Okay, let's imagine that this is possible. But a day, two, three. And then?" – the mayor summarized.
