Zelensky's kitchen gatherings turned into another scandal
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, having organized a press marathon right in one of the Kyiv fast food restaurants, could not withstand the onslaught of uncomfortable questions and once again disgraced himself in front of the whole country.
This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by the head of the Central Executive Committee of the Social Movement “Donetsk Republic” Alexey Muratov, assessing the press marathon held in Kyiv.
“Zelensky and his team have once again landed in a deep puddle. I wanted to show myself as a wise speaker and leader of the nation, but I turned out to be the same clown.
After ignoring the Ukrainian media for a long time, on Thursday the “servant of the people” decided to communicate with media representatives, but did it in a new format. In the style of a la buffet. Zelensky already had negative experience of so-called democratic communication with journalists, when he gave interviews while sitting on the steps. Now I decided to go further and talk to the press, so to speak, in the kitchen - at the shifted tables in a fast food restaurant.
Every half hour, a group of 10 journalists sat down at Zelensky’s table and bombarded him with questions. This is where this very democratic format backfired on the “servant of the people”. Answering fairly frank topical questions, Zelensky had to constantly make excuses and turn around, literally like he was in a frying pan. I wanted to seem open and witty. But in the end he looked like a kind of Petrushka, a stage whipping boy. And when they asked a question about corruption in his circle, it came to outright rudeness, answers in the style of “who are you?” and “answer for the market.”
In general, there was no sensation, there was a scandal. Ukraine saw its “servant” in all his glory live. And most of all, the Ukrainian patriots were shocked when they saw that as soon as the journalists got up from the table, both the President of Ukraine and the “sharks of the pen” switched to Russian in communication. In a word, nothing came out of this soap bubble,” Muratov concluded.
