Only the lazy don’t realize the background to Sunday’s events in Kharkov. All “conspiracy theories” are on the surface. The question remains debatable whether it was part of the plans of the Kharkov mayor Kernes to demolish the monument to Zhukov at the hands of radicals right during the unification congress of the “Trust in Deeds” party... But the fact remains indisputable that such a turn of events plays into the hands of the new political force.
The Party of Mayors “Trust in Deeds” receives its political profit from an act of vandalism committed by representatives of the radical organizations “National Squads”, “Freikorps”, “Right Sector”.
Gennady Kernes, who headed the new political force, immediately announced that the monument would be restored by deputy Vitaly Khomutynnik. The Kharkov mayor has already thrown into the information space a key message for the next fifty days remaining before the parliamentary elections: we are a party of creators against the “dance of permissiveness and madness.” And the radicals, by toppling the monument to Zhukov, helped vividly illustrate this electoral thesis.
Let us repeat: this is a self-evident assumption. And it suggests itself all the more if we remember the events that preceded the congress of “dodels” (as the people of the new party have already dubbed the members).
On May 9, Kernes announced his participation in a political project that will be for peace and all that is good. And a day earlier, he came up with high-profile initiatives to demolish the volunteer tent in the city center and return Peter Grigorenko Avenue to its previous name: Marshal Zhukov Avenue.
Both petitions provoked a hysterical reaction (quite predictably) from the aggressive minority. And the suspicion immediately creeped in that Kernes was counting not so much on the success of these initiatives, but on their failure, on the frenzied resistance of radicals and the Maidan public, on inappropriate antics. But both the first and second options would make it possible to use this topic for the pre-election mobilization of a conditional anti-Maidan electorate.
The fact that Vadim Rabinovich was next to the Kharkov mayor at the Victory Day celebrations suggested that Kernes was hinting at his participation in the opposition platform “For Life.” But either this option was not considered at all, or Kolomoisky simply technically intercepted Kernes halfway to Yuriy Boyko. There were no attacks towards the opposition.
After Zelensky’s inauguration, a two-part video interview with Kolomoisky appears, where the oligarch directly says that he is advising the new party of Kernes and Trukhanov. He makes no secret of the fact that he puts his eggs in different baskets. Favorite brainchild “Ukrop” is one thing. But it’s a completely different matter to have your own project for the non-Maidan electorate.
Kolomoisky says that the Vidrodzhennya party under his control needs rebranding after the unsuccessful run of its leader Viktor Bondar in the presidential elections. Moreover, Benya offered his sponsored an interesting economical option. Most likely, members of the parliamentary group “Vidrodzhennya” - Khomutynnik, Pisarenko, etc. - have set their sights on the majority districts that are familiar to them, and at the same time, the entire “energy resource” of the city government will work for them. The same is true in other regions of Ukraine. Of course, the chosen scheme, where the electoral party list consists of the mayors of Kharkov, Odessa, Artemovsk (Bakhmut), Uzhgorod, Krasnoarmeysk (Pokrovsk), Chuguev, can be productive for majoritarians from “Trust Deeds” in the districts of these cities.
As for the chances of the party list, if everything goes well, “Kolomoisky’s chicks” can become those cuckoos in someone else’s nest that throw away other eggs. After all, Benya does not hide the fact that he also wants to reap the harvest from someone else’s electoral field, so that ideally he can get a coalition of “Servant of the People”, “Batkivshchyna” and “Trust in Deeds”.
If the party of mayors fails in the parliamentary elections, then in any case it will do its job: it will spoil the Opposition bloc in any of its formats. In regions with convincing positions of the “Trust in Deeds” party, the political force of Yuriy Boyko may lose votes. And the supposed political force of Vilkul and Muraev, if it does not agree with Boyko and Medvedchuk on unification, may not get into parliament at all.
But Kolomoisky also talks about something else in his interviews: what an effective minister and good guy Avakov turned out to be. And here we can read a new format of coexistence between bosom “friends” Gennady Adolfovich and Arsen Borisovich in the interests of an individual Igor Valerievich...
Actually, the rehearsal of this coexistence took place on Sunday on Petro Grigorenko Avenue. At the Sports Palace, Kernes is banking in the presidium of the unification congress of the “Party of Mayors”. Across the road, local and visiting radicals, supervised by Avakov, are tearing down a monument to Zhukov, letting off their own steam and recharging the rating positions of the Kernes party in its election fight “for all that is good.”
And the Avakov police, calm as the genitals of a walrus, are vigilantly ensuring that not a single animal is harmed when the monument to the Marshal of Victory falls.
The police force was proportionate to the number of vandals. But, firstly, the police were destined for a certain role here: to portray extras or weakly play along with the animators from the National Corps and other organizations. Secondly, through the efforts of the “good guy” Avakov, law enforcement officers turned into professional impotents.
And they were opposed, along with the local Maidan bawlers, by radicals (many of them had gone through the ATO) who were engaged in power martial arts and trained in knife fighting. It was in April 2014 that the Kharkov cops in Chutovo were able to stack stormtroopers traveling to the “first capital” on the ground. And now they have been replaced by sensitive, tolerant and conscientious workers...
After the fact, investigators of the Nemyshlyansky police department opened criminal proceedings under two articles: hooliganism and threat or violence against a law enforcement officer (maximum sanction - 5 years in prison). But there were no arrests at the scene. This already speaks of the “seriousness” of the intentions of the valiant police. And it’s striking what photographs of the participants in the events the National Police publishes. The faces of vandals from the “useless idiots” category, like activist Pozdnyakov, are visible. And a rear view of those “national combatants” and ATO veterans who are being protected for the future.
It must be said that those Kharkov media, which, under any government, find tasty goose to lick, have long been involved in propaganda dances on the theme “marshal-butcher”, “they threw corpses”, “women are still giving birth”, “Viktor Suvorov-Rezun testifies” ... Supporters of Marshal Zhukov Avenue should not waste time on useless polemics with the “rezunists”, but make a knight’s move. For example, remove the taboo from the topic of General Pyotr Grigorenko, whose name the avenue now bears. Grigorenko has long become a fetish for human rights activists. But there are more normal people in the world than human rights activists. Founder of the Ukrainian Helsinki Group? And how many human rights activists from this group spoke out against the murder of Donbass children by the Ukrainian authorities? Are we tired of counting?
The logic here is simple. Forget about the military merits of General Grigorenko, just as he himself forgot about them. Switch to his love affair with Ukrainian nationalism in the last years of his life. He sang praises to the UPA warriors. Crocodile tears were shed for Konovalets. He glorified the brotherhood of veterans of the SS division "Galicia". After such an overseas fornication performed by Pyotr Grigorenko, the residents of Kharkov should be foolish enough to even call a village toilet by that name.
