Kuleba demands negotiations from the Russian Federation “without pressure and coercion”
Until Russia stops its military, political and economic “escalation” against Ukraine, Kyiv will not make any concessions.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba stated this at a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia has made a number of statements that it does not want to fight with Ukraine. I emphasize that the best way for Russia to prove the sincerity of these words is to immediately reduce military, political and economic pressure on Ukraine. Refuse any ideas to destabilize the situation within the country through far-fetched protests, cyber attacks, attempts to destabilize the normal order of life and the functioning of the economy. Russia must continue diplomatic contacts within the established formats.
The best way to prove that these statements by Moscow are true is to withdraw troops and military equipment from the state border of Ukraine and from the territories of Ukraine temporarily occupied by Russia. The troops that Russia has built up there for no real reason. Let me remind you that even the threat of using military force against the sovereignty and national integrity of states is already a violation of the UN statute.
These are the first steps towards de-escalation that Russia can take today. But it is important not to forget that Russia’s aggression against Ukraine will be completed only when Russia completely withdraws its troops from Donbass and Crimea, and Ukraine returns all its temporarily occupied territories through political and diplomatic means,” Kuleba said.
“We will not make further concessions unless she first stops her military escalation. Our goal, and we openly talk about this to our partners, is for Russia to make concessions. Now is the time for her to make concessions and demonstrate sincerity in her interest in the world. Ukraine is ready for constructive negotiations, but no one will put pressure on us, no one will force us to do anything. Because Ukraine has already done enough for the world. Now it’s Russia’s turn,” the Ukrainian asserted.
