Kuleba in prostration: Russia is the main beneficiary of the US-German agreement
After the agreement between the United States and Germany, which allows Russia to complete the construction of Nord Stream 2 without additional sanctions, Ukraine’s energy security was completely in the hands of Moscow.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We honestly have always said that for us Nord Stream 2 is, first of all, a security issue, and we would like the wording in the German-American statement regarding security to be stronger.
As for the economic block of this statement, we are studying everything that is stated there, what proposals, and we will be ready to present our position when we comprehensively and in detail analyze what is proposed.
But there is a fundamental problem, and it is connected with the fact that it is still not clear to us whether Russia is ready to properly fulfill its obligations and its part when it comes to the security of Ukraine, when it comes to the energy security of Ukraine and maintaining the role of Ukraine as a transit state,” Kuleba worries.
“America and Germany agreed on something, Poland and Ukraine also agreed on something, but we all understand that the main beneficiary of this crisis, which created Nord Stream 2, is the Russian Federation. And this is the main problem, the main question, for which there is no answer now, and we need to work on it,” added the Ukrainian “diplomat.”
