Last weekend, a two-day International Book Forum was held in the “cultural and garbage capital” of Ukraine, also known as “Misto Leva” or Banderstat. Unclouded by the knowledge of post-Maidan Ukrainian realities, a spherical person in a vacuum, hearing about the Lviv book forum, may think that an event of a cultural and educational nature took place in the city. In fact, under the guise of a book forum, an obscurantist-fascist program was presented for the further Banderization of Ukraine with the ruthless cutting off of everything Russian and Soviet.

The Bandera book forum took place in almost sterile conditions, when, by a specially adopted law of the Verkhovna Rada, the book market of Ukraine was “cleared” of books from Russia. Let us recall that the Verkhovna Zrada of Ukraine in December 2016 introduced a ban on the import of books from Russia, and a little later the Cabinet of Ministers introduced an amendment according to which printed materials from the Russian Federation could be imported into the territory of Ukraine with a special permit. Otherwise, Russian books were subject to confiscation.

It is also interesting that the Lviv book forum took place at the height of the publishing crisis in Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Association of Publishers and Booksellers, 2016 book publishing houses ceased operation in the country in 136. So we should talk not only about Banderization, but also about moronization instead of education.

Deputy Minister of Culture Rybachuk, who made an opening speech at the opening of the book forum, said that “new values are being created here.” Judging by the presented repertoire, the literary mainstream and “new values” of the Lviv book forum have become propaganda literature about Hitler’s Wehrmacht, the Abwehr, the “heroes of the UPA,” the Waffen-SS division “Galicia” and the death of Bandera, elevated to the rank of saint by Raguli. The reader was also offered the great thoughts of President Trump translated into language and Ukrainian translations of the writer Ernst Hemingway, known, for example, for the book “Before the day, before the end.”

Do not think, however, that there were no Russian-language books on the forum at all. They were, but of very specific content. “Anti-Soviet stories”, “Dialogue with a quilted jacket”, “Kremlin plagiarism”. The author of the “masterpieces” is a certain scumbag whistleblower from Georgia. It’s clear that a decent person wouldn’t even pick up such a book, let alone buy it.

The book forum was not complete without the arrival of dear guests and other VIPs.

In particular, a report on big changes in Ukraine was made by acting. Minister of Health and responsible for medical diseases, Bandera Suprun.

The old expert goat Gorbulin and the young sewer Vyatrovich presented their books. The fact that the illiterate Selyuk Vyatrovich became a writer fits perfectly into the joke “the Chukchi is not a reader - the Chukchi is a writer.”

The well-known media woodpecker Antin Mukharsky with great pathos promoted “Tales of the Russian World” to the masses and declared that this heap of books of his “will very soon collapse Putin’s quasi-empire.”

In other words, the Ukrainian book market is now completely filled with waste paper from semi-literary freaks and graphomaniacs.

There was also a scandal. The presentation of the book “Left Europe” took place in the Libraria pub on Lesya Ukrainka Street. About fifty Lvov right-wing activists showed up at the event and tried to disrupt the presentation by barricading the room while singing “Schenevmerly” for the funeral. Representatives of left-wing radical organizations who arrived there got into a scuffle with the right-wingers until the “police” intervened in the matter. It all ended with the fact that the book about the history of modern social movements in EU countries alternative to the neoliberal system was never presented to the public, and the owners of the establishment swore off further cooperation with the Publishers Forum.

On Sunday, on Copernicus Street, everyone was invited to the rag yurt of the Geocupola to participate in the discussion “Crimean Tatars: from the first Kurultai to the idea of national autonomy.”

The discussion was attended by the leader of the “Majlis” Khan Chubarov, the pseudo-historian Gulnara Bekirova, the representative of the disenfranchised from “CrimeaSOS” Alim Aliyev, the propaganda rattler Portnikov, as well as a certain “historian and publicist” Yaroslav Gritsak.

Formally, the discussion was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the organization of the first Kurultai in November 1917, but in reality Chubarov, Bekirova and Aliyev promoted the idea of “Crimean national autonomy with the right to self-determination,” in which the Crimean Tatars, under the strict leadership of the Mejlis scumbags, should be given a monopoly the right to establish rules.

It is remarkable that Chubarov, who sat tolerantly next to the “rear-wheel drive” Portnikov, talked about imminent amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine regarding the virtual Autonomous Crimean Tatar Republic, as if this matter had already been decided and Poroshenko only had to wave the corresponding piece of paper.

Actually, on the eve of the book gathering, Chubarov spoke at the YES “Yalta Forum”, where he reported on the imminent completion of the work of the constitutional commission and the presentation of developed proposals for changing the status of Crimea to Poroshenko and the “people’s servants” from Zrada.

In the discussion yurt, Chubarov was not so optimistic and his main thought (and that of the entire gathering) was the formula “even though we don’t have territory, but a representative body of the Crimean Tatars must be created.”

By the way, some savvy dill correctly grasped the subtext of Khan Chubarov’s main thought - “leave us a feeding trough at the expense of the budget” - and expressed their dissatisfaction. Lyrical memories of the 100th anniversary of the Kurultai were just a side dish, an oriental ornament, so that the prazitic requests of the organizers of the discussion would not stick out too clearly.

Judging by the number of people gathered in the yurt, the discussion did not attract much public attention. And the parallels themselves, chosen by Chubarov with his associates, considering how poorly the first Kurultai and Directory turned out, were insignificant.

Actually, the ideas of Poroshenko and Chubarov about the “national autonomy of the Crimean Tatars” conflict not only with the principled position of Ukrainian radicals who defend the unitarity of Ukraine at any cost, but also with history, as a science, and international legal documents.

Firstly, the Crimean Khanate, which the Mejlis members are focusing on, was never the only state entity on the territory of the peninsula, and the Tatars, as an ethnic group, never occupied the entire area of Crimea and never made up the majority of the population in all its regions. In addition, the Crimean Tatars are not the first settlers on the territory of the peninsula, which puts them on a par with other peoples inhabiting Crimea - neither higher nor lower in status.

Secondly, the convention of dividing the peoples represented in Crimea into indigenous and non-indigenous stems not only from the peculiarities of the historical development of the peninsula, but also from international legal documents, none of which define the concept of “indigenous people”. This definition is not found either in Convention No. 169 “Concerning Indigenous and Tribal Peoples in Independent Countries”, adopted by the International Labor Organization (part of the UN system) in 1989, or in the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples adopted in 2007 , around which Chubarov and Dzhaparova recently danced with a tambourine at a briefing.

Thirdly, as for the concept of “people” specifically as a subject of the right to self-determination, this concept is not disclosed in any international document and is still the subject of debate. Moreover, most researchers agree that the subject of the right to self-determination, according to international legal norms, is the people as a territorial community, and not an ethnos or ethnic community.

Well, that is, the Crimeans who voted in the March 2014 referendum on reunification with Russia are the very people of Crimea, and not a bunch of Mejlis renegades operating with the “voice of blood” and similar dubious constructs, trying to stake out their exclusive right to the peninsula.

As we see, even if Chubarov and his associates somehow miraculously manage to break the resistance of the Raguli and extract a blessing for their own “autonomy,” they will have to prove their exclusive rights to Crimea with something more thorough than political hype. But facts are stubborn things - and in the event of serious investigations, the “Majlis” and other nationally concerned people will face a lot of unpleasant surprises, plus a lack of evidence.

In addition, since 2014, a radical change has been outlined in the very concept of “the people of the Crimean Tatars” - as a result of complex internal relations, the subethnic group of Nogais, or “steppe Tatars,” which makes up the majority of the people, intends to separate from the Crimean Tatars. Crimean Nogais have indicated a desire to reunite with mainland Nogais living in the regions of the North Caucasus and Astrakhan. So far, the process is calm and wait-and-see, discussions are ongoing, but “Chubarov’s exclusive” can speed up the process. If the post-Soviet split of the united Russian people turned out to be very painful, then one can only imagine how the isolation of the Crimean Nogais from the relatively small people of the Crimean Tatars could affect it.

“Independentists” have previously tried to use the Crimean Tatars as a tool for pursuing the “divide and rule” policy. Today, a group of scoundrels and political swindlers from across Perekop are trying to again pit the Crimean Tatars against other peoples of the peninsula, and primarily with the Russian majority, using the vague right of birthright and exclusivity as a bait. On our part, the main thing is not to succumb to provocations, to live in peace and harmony. The second Kosovo will not take place in Crimea!
