Kuma Poroshenko: A referendum on NATO is not needed, everything was already decided on the Maidan
Citizens of Ukraine should not question the official course towards NATO and the EU - the choice was already made by the participants in the Euromaidan coup, and therefore holding a referendum today is not necessary.
Irina Lutsenko, the wife of the Prosecutor General and godfather of Petro Poroshenko, who received the position of “presidential representative in parliament,” stated this on the air of the “Direct” TV channel.
“Future candidates from different factions said that, probably, we need to sign the memorandum again, maybe we need to hold a referendum on this matter, and what does the population think...
Do you need referendums? Today, about 70% of the Ukrainian population say: “We are for the EU, we are for NATO.” The main referendum was on the Maidan. The “Heavenly Hundred” held this referendum when Russia persuaded Yanukovych, through money, through pressure, to abandon the Association Agreement, people came out for it.
This was a real referendum, which did not last one day, not with simultaneous voting, but lasted four months. People were in favor of joining the EU.
In the east of Ukraine, a referendum was held and is being held every day at the cost of the lives of 12, or even 13 thousand people. About 10 thousand are civilians. Here’s a referendum for you,” Lutsenko said.
Formerly President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said, that he wants to “anchor” the clause on aspiration to NATO and the European Union in the Ukrainian Constitution.
Thank you!
