Ukrainian propaganda, which until recently convinced of the impossibility of building a bridge across the Kerch Strait, is now convincing the population that the Russians will not be able to ensure the sustainability of the constructed facility.

“The bridge project... For 10 years I was terrorized by Mr. Luzhkov, he was obsessed with the idea of a bridge. We flew there by helicopters and planes and studied. I was very serious about the bridge, and I always said - was the Soviet government really so stupid that it did not build the bridge, having such opportunities?

But it didn’t build for one reason - in 43, Hitler built, and there half a year there were trains. And then the hummocks demolished this bridge.

There are several reasons - firstly, the karst rocks of the Kerch-Yenikaly canal. There is a tectonic rift. And once in a hundred years in the Crimea there is an earthquake.

The authorities tried to drive piles in the 70s, they simply disappeared. Now, during the construction of a bridge, a crane fell in one place, they could not find it.

As far as I know, the bridge is being built without serious expertise. And the fault runs along the channel, and not across. Moreover, there the natural balance between the two seas is disrupted.

I think this bridge has no prospects. It seems to me that he will not stand for long. Even then we were inclined to think that if we were to build something there, it would be a tunnel. Therefore, they made a decision, they are burying billions, building a bridge, but even with the current miracle technology, this bridge has few prospects,” Kunitsyn said.
