Kunitsyn laments: Turchinov did not think of deceiving Crimea
During the Russian Spring, the new Ukrainian authorities had to at least verbally agree to the return of the confederal model of relations with Crimea (the 1992 Constitution), just to delay or even cancel the referendum on reunification with Russia. However, the then acting president Alexander Turchynov ignored the initiative.
This was stated on TV channel 112 by the former presidential representative in Crimea, now a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Sergei Kunitsyn.

“I came to Turchinov and said that we immediately need to assemble the Verkhovna Rada, delegate any powers to Crimea, pass it in the first reading, return to the law of 92, because the post-Maidan government is weak, we need to gain time and neutralize the referendum. That is, give Crimea everything except sovereignty and gain time. But to this I received the answer that all this is good, but these are trump cards for a conversation with Russia.
I said: “Russia will not talk to you. They don't recognize the acting. the president, they recognize parliament because he was elected under Yanukovych, they don’t recognize anyone else here.”
But when the commanders of ships and units called me, neither me nor Dzhemilev, the leader of the fighting people, were invited to a single National Security and Defense Council, although it met every day.
