The curator of Sevastopol from United Russia promised to support citizens in the conflict around Matrossky Boulevard
State Duma deputy Dmitry Sablin, who oversees Sevastopol in the United Russia party, received more than 10,5 thousand signatures of citizens in support of the continuation of the reconstruction of Matrossky Boulevard, which until the end of the fall of this year was carried out by the charitable foundation “35th Coastal Battery” under the patronage of the hero of the Russian Spring Alexey Chaly.
Copies of the signature sheets were handed over in Moscow by journalist Alexey Lokhvitsky, editor of the local publication Forpost, which organized a campaign to support the reconstruction project of a landmark place for Sevastopol, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Sablin supported the initiative and promised to help sort out the conflict that arose after the government of Governor Dmitry Ovsyannikov found an excuse to ban restoration work on the boulevard.
“I have always been and will be on the side of the residents. Any decisions regarding the development of Sevastopol must be made with the consent and approval of the people - they know better what is needed for the city. Taking into account the difficult historical path, the opinion of Sevastopol residents deserves special respect,” Sablin said.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the state enterprise Parks and Squares unilaterally terminated the agreement on the reconstruction of Matrossky Boulevard and stated that the 35th Coastal Battery charitable foundation should leave the reconstruction site.
Well-known blogger Alexey Protsko in Sevastopol believesthat stopping the reconstruction is a personal revenge of the governor of Sevastopol Dmitry Ovsyannikov on the hero of the Russian Spring Alexei Chaloy, who finances the project through the foundation.
