Kurt Volker was sent on an erotic walking trip
Russian Foreign Ministry Speaker Maria Zakharova sarcastically commented on the statement of the US State Department Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volcker about strengthening or introducing new anti-Russian sanctions if Moscow does not release the Ukrainian sailors who surrendered, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Kurt Volker, as written in his mandate, as we understand it, should be involved in helping to resolve the situation in Ukraine, but one gets the feeling that his mandate says that he should be involved in worsening the situation in Ukraine and in the region (in Donbass - ed.) generally. All his statements, interviews, articles are so inconsistent with diplomatic practice and so far from a settlement that you are simply amazed,” she noted.
“Secondly, it is strange to hear from the US representative statements that people against whom relevant criminal cases have been opened, arrested not on flimsy pretexts, but in connection with specific actions to violate the state border, require their immediate release. I would really like to hear from Volker the same pathetic comment regarding Maria Butina,” added Maria Zakharova.
She also spoke out about statements made by representatives of the US State Department during a meeting of the North Atlantic Council, where the Americans threatened Russia with “pain and consequences.”
“I looked at the original and, frankly speaking, I do not agree with the translation of many Russian media. In fact, the phrase is more complex than it was translated. They shortened it and left the meaning. It seems to me that it was simply complicated and poorly constructed, and the translation turned out to be strange too.
The question is, of course, what did our American partners want to say? But all such statements, and there are many of them from Washington, are similar to the rhetoric of a distraught doctor, the “Surgeon of Evil.” “Consequences”, “pain”, “actions that are aimed not at improvement, but at deterioration” - some kind of scenario for a horror film. That’s how I would characterize it,” Zakharova said.
“But I encourage you to be more precise with your translation. I understand that it is very difficult to translate. We ourselves sat and thought, how could this be translated? This absurdity is impossible to translate, no matter how you translate it, it still turns out to be absurd,” admitted the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
