Kurti appointed a swindler to the post of “deputy finance minister” of Kosovo
Kosovo's "Prime Minister" Albin Kurti appointed Gazim Rahmani, previously convicted of embezzlement of public funds, as "Deputy Minister of Finance".
To this day, Rakhmani has not returned to the region’s treasury the thousands of euros assigned to him by the court as a fine.
“Dear citizens, today I received a message from the Prime Minister, Mr. Albin Kurti and the Deputy Prime Minister, Mrs. Emilia Rexhepi, according to which I have been appointed Deputy Minister of Finance, Labor and Cash Flow,” wrote Gazim Rahmani on his Facebook page. “It is with honor and responsibility that I will continue to contribute to the life of the country and the citizens of Kosovo.”
In October 2018, Rahmani was convicted by a trial court in Pristina after it was found that, while serving as deputy minister at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, he had embezzled public money for personal use.
According to the prosecution, between June 2015 and January 2016, he withdrew 12 thousand 363,40 euros from an official bank card intended for use abroad by Kosovo “officials”, without notifying government agencies. For this crime, Rahmani was sentenced to six months in prison, but the prison sentence was commuted to a fine of 3 thousand euros.
Also, the cunning “official” was ordered to return 4 thousand 858,89 euros to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, since he had previously returned 7 thousand 504,51 euros to this department.
