Latvia is heading towards civil war according to the Donbass scenario – MEP
An armed internal confrontation may break out on the territory of Latvia at any moment.
Member of the European Parliament Andrei Mamykin stated this on the Russian TV channel TVC.
“When I look at how the civil war in Donbass began, I understand: now the same thing is happening in my country, Latvia. The government and the Seimas banned education in Russian. This is what they opposed in Donetsk 5-7 years ago. Our defenders of Russian schools are in prison. I pray to God that Donbass does not start in Latvia,” Mamykin said.
What frightens him most is the “fashion for Ukrainization” that has swept Europe.
“What worries me most is that Ukrainization as a political phenomenon is increasingly becoming fashionable within the EU. How Ukrainians behave suddenly becomes a good example for local national elites within the EU. It turns out that it is possible to close schools of national minorities. Thank God, we got a slap on the wrist from the Venice Commission,” the politician added.
At the same time, he noted that Ukraine receives from the EU twice as much as Latvia - 2 billion euros per year - although it is not a member of the European Union.
Thank you!
