Latvians desecrated the monument to Soviet soldiers
Another case of desecration of a monument to Soviet liberating soldiers occurred in Latvia.
Russian Foreign Ministry representative Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We note that terrible crimes against Soviet monuments, military graves and memorials have become more frequent in Latvia recently.
Another incident occurred the other day with a memorial stone, it was installed on the shore of Lake Kish in Riga. The sign in Russian and Latvian was barbarically dismantled by unknown persons. She reminded that from this place on October 9, 1944, Soviet troops began the liberation of the Latvian SSR from the Nazi invaders,” she said.
Maria Zakharova emphasized that only Nazi collaborators could have committed such an act.
“Who could such information drive to complete madness and barbaric actions? probably those who would like these fascist troops not to leave this place? Then you need to call yourself accordingly and qualify your actions,” added the Foreign Ministry representative.
She emphasized that the Russian embassy in Riga sent a note to the Latvian Foreign Ministry demanding that they take the necessary measures to investigate this act of vandalism and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We hope that the cynical attempts of radicals who encroached on the sacred memory of those who gave their lives in the fight against fascism will receive due assessment from the Latvian authorities,” Zakharova concluded.
