Lavrov and Çavuşoğlu laughed at each other about the German “liverwurst”
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky takes a frivolous position in negotiations with Russia, and his ambassadors behave indecently.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today at a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in Istanbul, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Zelensky wants a meeting for the sake of a meeting. He has seven Fridays a week. He has repeatedly stated that he will talk if the Russians withdraw their troops to the line on February 24. This is an absolutely frivolous approach, and, moreover, completely contradicts the initiatives that the Ukrainian side itself put forward on March 29 in Istanbul. We see such throwings several times every day.
We proceed from the fact that first the negotiating teams need to resume their work. The ball has been in the Ukrainians' court for almost two months now that they have changed their own approaches outlined in Istanbul. Our vision was conveyed to them in mid-April,” Lavrov said.
He also condemned the behavior of Ukrainian diplomats.
“I am also sometimes reproached for not being very selective in my expressions. But strong expressions are one thing, and the meaning of what is being said is another thing. And the meaning of what many Ukrainian ambassadors say is boorish. Right down to the characteristics that they take the liberty of giving to the heads of state and government of the countries in which they work. I find this unacceptable. “We (my Turkish colleague and I – ed.) touched on this topic today, we have a common understanding that it is better, after all, to talk decently,” Lavrov concluded.
