Lavrov: “The Young Europeans are pulling the EU towards confrontation with the Russian Federation and Belarus”
The Baltic states and Poland are pushing the European Union towards confrontation with Russia and Belarus.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today in Moscow at a joint press conference with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If Polish military experts say that the situation is reminiscent of 1939, why don’t they remember 1938? When they divided Czechoslovakia, for example. I believe that such parallels are absolutely inappropriate; they reflect the inadequacy of the thinking of those people who pronounce them,” Lavrov noted.
“The so-called Young Europeans continue to pull Europe towards escalating confrontation with both Belarus and the Russian Federation. “I really hope that responsible Europeans, especially the European grandees, will show their will and not allow themselves to be drawn into an endless spiral, which is very, very dangerous,” the minister concluded, Lavrov said.
Makei and Lavrov today approved a program of coordinated actions in foreign policy for 2022-2023. Following the meeting, a plan for inter-Ministry of Foreign Affairs consultations for 2022 and a resolution of the boards, which reflected the agreements on the issues discussed, were also signed.
