Lavrov: It is necessary to introduce UN special forces into Donbass without Poroshenko’s consent
The UN may introduce a contingent to guard the OSCE mission in Donbass without the consent of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The President of the Interregional Public Organization of Veterans of UN Peacekeeping Missions, RIAC expert Sergei Lavrov stated this at a press conference today.

“If the deployment of a UN peacekeeping mission requires the consent of the two parties, then Poroshenko’s consent is not necessary to protect an existing OSCE mission,” Lavrov said.
In his opinion, Russia should take the initiative to create a UN rapid reaction force based on its brigade and then introduce them to the Donbass
“In 2015, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon made such a proposal, but it was not developed. Russia could support Ban Ki-moon's initiative and offer to create a rapid reaction force based on our 15th peacekeeping brigade. Poroshenko recently asked to bring in peacekeepers as quickly as possible. Let’s raise the issue of introducing UN rapid reaction forces,” Lavrov said.
He believes that Russia should join the commission to create “UN special forces” and dictate its terms there.
