Lavrov: The OSCE must monitor how the rights of Russians are respected in Ukraine
The OSCE mission in Ukraine must monitor not only the implementation of the Minsk agreements, but also the observance of humanitarian rights throughout the country. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today at a meeting with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.

“We are interested in the OSCE closely monitoring what Kiev is doing in the context of the general mandate of the OSCE Mission to Ukraine, because it extends to all major regions of Ukraine and requires monitoring how the obligations of the Kiev authorities in the field of education, culture, language and other rights of national minorities, including ethnic Russians and the Russian-speaking population of the country,” Lavrov said.
He emphasized that Russia supports the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairmanship, Martin Sajdik, who coordinates the work of the Contact Group in Minsk.
“We are interested in ensuring that all these OSCE opportunities are aimed at facilitating the implementation of the Minsk agreements. The “Normandy” format is addressing the same problem, within which intensive work continues at the level of assistant leaders and experts,” Lavrov said.
