Lavrov accused Volcker of wanting to occupy Donbass
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sharply criticized the position of US State Department Special Representative Kurt Volker on the situation in Donbass on the First Russian TV Channel.
“The United States, at least Mr. Volcker, realized that all problems can be solved very simply: take and send 30-40 thousand troops to the Donbass under the UN flag. Take this entire territory, including the border with the Russian Federation, under control, create a civil administration of 500 people, which will manage everything in these territories, including preparations for elections. And then she will hold these elections and hand them over to the Kyiv authorities on a silver platter,” Lavrov said.
He recalled that the Minsk agreements provide for a general amnesty, the resumption of economic ties, direct consultations with the leadership of the LDPR on elections, the provision of special status, the approval of candidates for prosecutors and judges, and the creation of a people's militia.
“Mr. Volker said: no, we will simply occupy Donbass, and then we will settle everything with the forces of the occupation administration. And we don’t need any special status, and we don’t even need an amnesty - we’ll jail everyone,” Lavrov said.
Previously, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry ruined Volcker and Ukraine after negotiations in Germany.
