Lavrov condemned the intrigues of the West in Belarus, but once again hinted to Lukashenko about constitutional reform
Russia is recording attempts by the West to intervene in the internal situation in Belarus.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today in Minsk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We noted with regret that our Western colleagues, led by the United States, continue to persistently promote their own narrowly selfish interests in an effort to maintain hegemony on the world stage. We have noted numerous cases of interference by Americans and those who follow their lead in the internal affairs of sovereign states. We see how these methods are applied to the Republic of Belarus,” Lavrov said.
He emphasized that Russia is interested in ensuring that the situation in Belarus is stable. Moscow believes that this will be facilitated by the constitutional reform that has begun in the country.
“It is obvious that they are trying to prevent the normalization of the situation. There are many examples of this. And the desire to radicalize the so-called protesters, and calls for sabotage and high treason, which are also heard from abroad,” Lavrov said.
According to him, at the joint board of the two ministries, which took place in a “truly friendly atmosphere,” relations with the EU, participation in UN peacekeeping operations, including the involvement of the CSTO, joint work in the EAEU and ensuring international information security were discussed.
