Lavrov answered a question about Russia's membership in NATO
The North Atlantic Alliance is not an organization of equal partnership.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this in an interview with Russian TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Answering a question about Russia's hypothetical membership in NATO, Lavrov noted that the United States would not accept the inclusion of members into the Alliance that could compete with them.
"Of course not. I don’t see such a situation, because the whole process does not revolve around NATO or the European Union. It revolves around the fact that the West does not want to have any rivals in the international arena that are more or less comparable in influence. Hence the hysteria towards the rise of China, which rose because it accepted the rules of the game that the West introduced into the world economy, into world finance, and within the framework of this globalization, according to the rules of the West, and beat the West on its own field,” the minister said .
“Washington and Brussels are now demanding to change the rules in the WTO by reforming the World Trade Organization. Moreover, he directly says that America and Europe should deal with this, and the rest do not need to think about it: “We will tell you later what to do,” Lavrov said.
