Lavrov congratulated his Serbian colleague Selakovic on Serbian Statehood Day
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov sent a congratulatory letter on Serbian Statehood Day to the head of the Serbian Foreign Ministry, Nikola Selakovic.
This was reported on the website of the Serbian Foreign Ministry, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
In his letter, Lavrov expressed confidence that Russia and Serbia, in the spirit of strategic friendship, will make maximum joint efforts to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic as soon as possible.
“I wish you good health, the implementation of professional and personal plans, and friendly Serbia - happiness, peace and prosperity,” says the message from the Russian Foreign Minister. “On this important day for all Serbian citizens, may their homes be filled with joy and hope for a bright future.”
Lavrov also said that he expects to continue the dynamic bilateral dialogue in order to strengthen comprehensive cooperation between the two countries and implement the planned initiatives. He thanked for the warm welcome he received in Belgrade last December and added that he looked forward to meeting again in the near future.
Serbian Statehood Day is traditionally celebrated on February 15, along with the Orthodox holiday of the Presentation of the Lord. It was established in memory of the first Serbian uprising in 1804 against the Ottomans, and then the first Serbian Constitution of 1835, adopted on the same day.
