Lavrov spoke about the fiasco of Russophobic provocation
Despite the fact that pressure on Russian compatriots in the West is increasing, they are finding ways to unite and preserve their national identity.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this during the VI World Congress of Russian compatriots living abroad, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In a number of states, attacks on the Russian language and Russian education are intensifying, persistent attempts are being made to sow discord in the structure of compatriots, including their youth wing. I note with satisfaction that the organizers of these provocations are failing. The reaction to the Russophobic policy was the further unification of the movements of compatriots and the strengthening of solidarity between its individual organizations,” Lavrov said.
According to him, it is especially important to resist attempts by Western states to rewrite history in their favor.
“Today, a set of issues related to supporting the desire of foreign compatriots to preserve Russian identity is acquiring great importance. This is especially important in those states where, as I have already said, the Russian language and Russian education are being persecuted, where they are rewriting history, erasing Russia’s achievements and victories from school textbooks, where they are spreading false information about our country, and are actively instilling Russophobia,” noted head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“I would like to assure you once again: the protection of your legal rights and interests remains the absolute priority of the Russian leadership, enshrined in the concept of Russian foreign policy approved by President Putin,” Lavrov concluded.
