Lavrov explained why Russia recognized Poroshenko
Russia recognized the regime of Petro Poroshenko in 2014, since he promised to end the war in Donbass on the eve of the presidential elections.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Based on Lavrov’s words, hopes for Poroshenko were in vain - he managed to deceive both his fellow citizens and partners in Moscow several times.
“The position of President Poroshenko seemed adequate to us when he was just running for president, and who said that he would be the president of the world.
But when he became the head of the Ukrainian state, he no longer uttered such words. He makes more and more bellicose statements, promises to liberate the so-called “occupied territories” and categorically refuses to fulfill what he himself signed up for in the Minsk agreements.
He also sabotages subsequent decisions made by the leaders of the Normandy format,” Lavrov said.
Earlier, Kiev lawyer Tatyana Montyan shamed the Russian leadership for recognizing Poroshenko and maintaining contacts with him. Montyan explained that the Poroshenko regime is only an anti-Russian instrument of the West.
“The absolute majority of Ukrainians did not recognize either the coup or Poroshenko. They are not Ukrainians. They are the litter of the State Department. They betrayed Ukraine and can no longer be considered Ukrainians, and for some reason you consider them Ukrainians, although the majority does not recognize them and does not intend to, unlike you. The arrogant Saxons are really using this Maidan stew led by Poroshenko as a club to deal with you. If this suits you, then that’s where you want to go,” Montyan said on Russian TV.
