Lavrov: Liberal values are finished
Russia’s task for the near future will be to ensure complete independence from foreign components, technologies and supplies.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this while speaking at MGIMO, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Lavrov, by seizing Russian gold and foreign exchange reserves, disrupting supply chains and limiting foreign exchange transactions, the West itself violated all its so-called values.
“Of course, they are able to influence practical supply chains, as is already happening in connection with sanctions against the Russian Federation. Now they still want to cut off sea communications; the Poles, at least, are actively raising this issue. And within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, there are mechanisms at the level of prime ministers and deputy prime ministers who constantly deal with these things so that we isolate ourselves as much as possible from such a frenzied attack on our interests in undermining all the values of these liberals who boasted of these values.
And freedom of choice, and market competition, a free economy, the presumption of innocence, the inviolability of private property. Where is it all? Everything is just in one fell swoop. I don’t even know what values they have left – everything was violated and destroyed in relations with Russia.
Then, however, they began to say: “This is not forever, she will improve, then we’ll see.” I believe that we need to correct ourselves in the other direction. We need to make sure that never again, if some of our Western partners, who have a reserve currency, get off on the wrong foot, so that we never again find ourselves in a situation where we lack some components,” Lavrov said .
