Lavrov will see Kim Jong-un before Trump
The United States cannot resolve the problems of the Korean Peninsula alone.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this today at the Primakov Readings international forum, commenting on his upcoming visit to the DPRK on May 31.
“I was invited and accepted the invitation. The purpose of this visit, like any other, is to review bilateral relations and discuss the situation in the region,” Lavrov said.
He believes that within the framework of the “road map” outlined by Russia and China, negotiations between 6 countries are inevitable.
“We support changes in relations between the two Koreas and in relations between Pyongyang and Washington. We hope that the negotiations will not result in an ultimatum. The task of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is difficult to solve in one fell swoop,” the Russian Foreign Minister emphasized.
