Lavrov: Kosovo authorities have fought off American hands
The authorities of unrecognized Kosovo feel unpunished under the protection of the West.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov today in Japan, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As for the behavior of the Kosovo authorities, they have clearly fought off the hands of those who tried to lead them - the EU and the United States. They don't really listen to anyone. The result is sad. The Kosovo authorities have a feeling of impunity and permissiveness,” Lavrov said.
He called the behavior of the authorities in Pristina towards the Russian participant in the UN mission in Kosovo “unacceptable”.
“And their attempts to deprive our representative of the powers, the status that UN mission employees have, is a very serious issue, and UN representatives must respond to it. The head of the UN mission in Kosovo has taken a principled position and will not indulge such statements about the intentions of the Pristina authorities,” the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized.
The minister said that the Kosovo authorities are constantly violating UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
“They have already crossed out and trampled on too many of their obligations. Including the obligations concluded through the mediation of the European Union four years ago - to create a community of Serbian municipalities in Kosovo. They also violated resolution 1244 by announcing the creation of their own armed forces, which they were prohibited from doing. And much more of what they are doing shows how dangerous it is to get away with successive, numerous violations of international law,” Lavrov concluded.
