Lavrov: The West will receive an answer if it continues its aggressive course
Russia hopes to receive written clause-by-clause responses to its demands for security guarantees from the United States as early as this week.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced this today in the State Duma, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Depending on these answers, we will prepare proposals for the president on our next steps. We will not allow our proposals to be bogged down in endless discussions, but such a line is clearly visible. If such a response does not follow, the West continues its aggressive course, then Moscow will take the necessary retaliatory measures. The safety of Russian citizens is an absolute priority, and it will be reliably ensured under all circumstances,” Lavrov said.
Parliament responded to these words with applause. The minister emphasized that Russia “does not get hung up” on the Western direction in its foreign policy, and the majority of states support it in this.
“Humanity has matured. There are fewer and fewer people willing to sacrifice fundamental national interests and pull chestnuts out of the fire for senior comrades from Washington and Brussels,” Lavrov said.
