To increase turnout in Russian elections, they need to be moved to the spring. LDPR deputy Alexey Didenko stated this today in the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

“For many peoples, the spring solstice was considered the beginning of active life. Mood improves, people are in a good mood, make plans and want to participate in determining their future,” Didenko said.
He also proposed abolishing the so-called “day of silence” as “a vestige of the continental electoral system.”
“If election day is Sunday, the LDPR faction insists that people be given a day off on Monday,” Didenko said.
