Le Pen spoke about the historical mistake of the European Union
The leaders of the European Union continue to think in old terms and look at Russia through the prism of the Cold War.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, the leader of the National Rally party, ex-French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen, stated this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, answering the question of what she thinks about Russia.
“No one can ignore the role and place of Russia in the world order. It occupies an important place and remains a leading voice in a multipolar world, a voice that regulates international relations and geopolitics. “I believe in the virtues of dialogue, calm and constructive diplomacy, especially with your great country, with which we have a long-standing relationship, and which, in the opinion of General de Gaulle, participated in developing the balance between Europe and Europe’s place in the world,” the politician said.
According to her, the basis of democracy is international law, but now it has been replaced by the interests and will of certain powers and organizations led by the United States and NATO.
“The arbitrary position and sanctions adopted by the European Union against Russia in recent years are a historical and geopolitical mistake. EU leaders have not grasped the meaning of history's upheavals; they are still frozen in the Cold War, with their eyes turned exclusively to the United States and its armed wing, NATO. The world has changed, Europe has changed. Yesterday's enemies are today allies in the war we are waging against Islamic fundamentalism in Syria and the Middle East.
They are and should be key trading partners in a multipolar world. Our relations with Russia are important and necessary,” Le Pen concluded.
