Leonkov: “Now the remnants of the professional military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are seeking”
In attempts to hold Avdeevka and Marinka, Ukrainian armed forces are suffering huge losses
Russian military expert Alexey Leonkov stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Avdiivka does not have much value for the Ukrainian forces as a logistics or any other point - everything there is destroyed. In the battles for it, as well as for Artemovsk and Marinka, they suffer unreasonably high losses. They seek the remnants of regular military personnel and, most importantly, officers. However, they see the point in this. They are afraid that the front will move, our offensive will begin, and they will not hold it.
Therefore, the enemy is trying to hold these points, so that in the future they will become stumbling points for Russian troops, which will hinder the advance and draw back our forces. They are unlikely to have such fortified areas with concrete bunkers, warehouses and developed minefields again. They were built over years,” Leonkov told Izvestia.
According to him, in this way the Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to gain time for the long-announced spring general offensive.
“They are preparing for it. The NATO equipment recently delivered to the front has not been noticed; it is being protected and accumulated in the rear for more important and, as it seems to them, decisive actions. True, they exchange hours, minutes and days for hundreds and thousands of lives of their servicemen,” says the expert.
He warns that Russia must be prepared to repel an attack.
“Next we will move on to implementing our plans. We will move west, liberating Russian regions and expanding the security zone,” Leonkov concluded.
