Leshchenko saw “the apotheosis of the banana republic” in Ukraine
When American private individuals give personnel recommendations to the President of Ukraine, this is a humiliation for the country.
Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Leshchenko stated this in an interview with the online publication Apostrophe.
He criticized the interview of the former mayor of New York, lawyer of US President Donald Trump, Rudolph Giuliani, who spoke out against the appointment of Boris Bogdan as head of President Zelensky's administration.
“I believe that this is an inadequate relationship between countries when private individuals give recommendations on who to appoint and who not,” the deputy said.
“I can still understand, for example, when official authorities - the embassy, the White House, the State Department - say that we are issuing financial assistance, so we would like to see a fight against corruption at the institutional level. But when some private individuals who do not have any official status begin to trade their influence, access to Trump’s ear, and tell whom to appoint/not to appoint in Ukraine, this is the apotheosis of the banana republic. This didn’t happen even during Poroshenko’s time,” Leshchenko laments.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Giuliani advised Zelensky cleanse yourself of “stuck” and Kolomoisky, and also expressed disappointment at the fact that people like Leshchenko are hanging around Zelensky.
