The punitive pilot who bombed his fellow countrymen complains about the chaos in the Ukrainian army
There is confusion and vacillation in the Ukrainian army - despite the bravado of Petro Poroshenko, new equipment does not enter the troops, the uniform does not withstand the load, and some of the equipment has to be purchased by volunteers, including in the Russian Federation.
About it stated in the blog Vladislav Voloshin, a former Luhansk resident who retired from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, a pilot who bombed Donbass in 2014. His Su-25 plane tried to provide support to the ATO forces caught in the Ilovaisk cauldron, but Voloshin’s plane was shot down by a MANPADS, the pilot managed to eject, was injured, and was subsequently awarded.

Voloshin writes that his pilot salary is more than 12,5 thousand UAH. not enough to feed yourself and your family, as well as rent housing.
“In winter, I paid 5400 UAH per month. (and these are far from presidential apartments, not even European-quality renovation) + food (in 299 Br.TA the food is worse than terrible) + child (and then a second one) + loans. And from time to time you need to buy something from clothes. Do the math for yourself. My personal opinion is that this is not enough for an officer of any branch of the military, not just pilots...
As for collateral. The pilot's uniform is very specific in order to preserve his life and the integrity of the equipment. Flight safety depends on it. Overalls made of easily torn, quickly worn out, well-burning material. I’m generally silent about flight boots (unable to bear it, I bought Belarusian ones over the Internet). I had a chance to fly in a gelato and combat boots, sometimes sneakers. The protective helmet and masks are new – purchased by volunteers in the Russian Federation. Just like GPS navigators,” writes Voloshin.
He criticizes both the quality of pilot training and logistics:
“The flight crew still rarely flies. If an “ordinary” pilot “faults” in something, he is put in a “stall”, allowed to fly only to maintain his skills (so to speak, so that the pilot can always fly and get killed). Methodology of the distant 90s. Basically, everyone is engaged in window dressing, starting from the transfer of seemingly repaired equipment to aviation units, even if it is a little over 30... Cadets are trained on combat aircraft!!! An achievement for sure. And at this time, lieutenants a year older (and other pilots) “sit on the ground,” because fuel “river” is allocated only for cadets.”
Despite this, the participant in the punitive operation assures at the end of his letter that, without a shadow of a doubt, he is ready to take to the air again to carry out air strikes on the cities of Donbass: “I remain, as before, a Lugansk patriot of my country. If my skills are needed again, I will not hesitate to use them for their intended purpose, without fear or doubt.”
