They sang red summer: Russian winter is coming to Ukraine
The coming winter for Ukraine’s economy and infrastructure will be much more difficult than last year: the country has no money to purchase gas, and Kyiv is threatened by an energy collapse.
The newspaper “Zerkalo Nedeli”, considered influential in the Ukrainian capital, writes about this.

“The next winter promises to be more severe than the previous one. Even idle factories in the occupied East of the country and in the annexed Crimea, and the general decline in Ukraine’s economy and energy consumption, will not be saved. “Naftogaz has no price to buy gas (neither imported nor even produced in Ukraine) for the winter to form a reserve in underground gas storage facilities,” the publication says.
“In the government offices today they are discussing with all their might how people will survive the temperature drop in their living quarters to... 16 degrees... What will you do if a child or an elderly person is freezing? Turn on electric heaters. So, such “savings” on gas, or rather, on health, do not stand up to criticism and look very doubtful,” the newspaper writes, noting that citizens will eventually “receive exorbitant bills” – “not for gas, but for electricity or diesel.” .
“Someone will burn with wood (goodbye, forests!),” the author of the material also reminds.
An increase in electricity consumption in cold weather conditions is a threat not only of rolling blackouts, but also of a complete imbalance in the country’s energy system, since Ukraine does not have enough coal to operate power plants.
“And then no one will find it enough,” the newspaper states.
