Lyovochkin: We are not a pro-Russian party
Ukraine needs to normalize relations with the Russian Federation.
The PolitNavigator correspondent reports that in an interview with the Kyiv magazine Novoye Vremya, the ex-head of the presidential administration of Ukraine, one of the leaders of the OPZZH, Verkhovna Rada deputy Sergei Levochkin, who is part of an oligarchic group associated with billionaire Dmitry Firtash, stated this.
The politician admits that his party was artificially written into a pro-Russian niche, but it is actually pro-Ukrainian.
“Well, yes, they created a meme - “pro-Russian party.” But we are not a pro-Russian party, we are a pro-Ukrainian party. We stand for the normalization of relations, mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian Federation, to which we need to return. No one will move the thousand-kilometer border, no one will cancel the fact that in Ukraine millions of people speak Russian. And no one can cancel the fact that many Ukrainians have relatives in Russia, and many Russians have relatives in Ukraine. It will still happen. Therefore, it is necessary to normalize relations and create a positive outlook for them,” the deputy said.
“But hundreds of thousands of people went through the ATO, and for them the Russians will never be brothers again,” the publication objected.
“Do you remember the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945? It seemed that there would never be normal relations between peoples after it. Less than a hundred years have passed, and we are partners - Ukraine and Germany. Together we want to build a single European home. Russia is much closer to us,” Levochkin noted.
Let us recall that after the start of the Maidan in Kyiv in 2013 and clashes with the police, Lyovochkin resigned from the post of head of the administration of President Yanukovych, expressing his disagreement with the actions of law enforcement officers.
At the same time, the OPZZh party, despite certain pro-Russian rhetoric, regularly gets into scandals related to supporting Russophobes.
In addition, as PolitNavigator reported, passed according to the lists of OPZH one of the organizers of the Maidan is a deputy.
