Liberal Goltz scares Russia with American instructors in Ukraine and “Stingers”
Claims that the Ukrainian army “has become different” after 2014 raise doubts among military experts.
Alexander Golts, a military observer, deputy editor-in-chief of the Daily Journal portal and one of the founders of the United Civil Front headed by Garry Kasparov, stated this in an interview with the Ekho Moskvy radio station, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It’s impossible to determine this while sitting in Moscow, but, to be honest, the rituals regarding the new Ukrainian army seem dubious to me. Ukraine has done absolutely nothing to fundamentally change its armed forces. They were and remain corrupt, it is not clear with what structure and formation system. I have read several serious Western works on this subject, which say that military reform in Ukraine has been lost. To say whether this is true or not can only be done through constant monitoring, which none of the civilian experts in Russia are doing,” Golts said.
At the same time, reports that the United States is going to send military experts and weapons to Donbass cause him great concern.
“I think this information very seriously fuels the situation. The dispatch of military advisers and, most importantly, “Stingers” leads to a decisive escalation between Russia and the United States. The next step is war, which is impossible. If this is true, then we are returning to Afghanistan in the 80s or Vietnam in the 70s - military advisers and the ability to shoot down potential enemy aircraft. The colossal superiority of the Russian army is based on air superiority. “Stingers” or their new analogues can reduce this superiority,” the liberal believes.
“I’m not even talking about military advisers. I can imagine what will happen if they appear in Ukraine. It will be necessary to kidnap them and kill them. The most difficult service in Afghanistan was that of Soviet military advisers. I really want to believe that this is a newspaper hoax or a leak in order to cool Russian ardor,” Golts said.
