Liberal to Ukrainians: “Before returning Crimea, return the money invested to Russia”
Ukraine cannot sue Russia for damages in Crimea, since during the peninsula’s stay under the jurisdiction of the Russian Federation, the infrastructure there was not destroyed, but, on the contrary, was built.
The famous Russian oppositionist, former adviser to Boris Nemtsov, Boris Nadezhdin, stated this today on the Rossiya-1 TV channel, commenting on yesterday’s call by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to speed up the filing of claims in international courts.
“In Crimea, unlike Donbass, there were no hostilities. You can see for yourself how much has been built there. When you decide to return Crimea, first pay us for everything that we built there for 350 billion. There is truly terrible destruction in Donbass. But it is not obvious who is responsible for them: these, as you call them, separatists and Russian volunteers, or the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” Nadezhdin said.
On August 1, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced on his Facebook page that he had asked the country’s government to create “an appropriate interdepartmental coordination body” to appeal to international courts.
