Liberal woman from Moscow State University is outraged by the issuance of Russian passports to residents of the LDPR
Changes in Russian legislation, providing for a simplified procedure for obtaining citizenship for residents of the LDPR, infringe on the rights of labor migrants who find it difficult to obtain Russian passports, as well as Russians, since they entail a burden on social funds
Olga Chudinovskikh, head of the Laboratory of Population Economics and Demography at the Faculty of Economics of Moscow State University, stated this at a scientific conference in Moscow.
“The Pension Fund publishes these wonderful statistics on recipients of Russian pensions abroad. And we see how Abkhazia is confidently becoming one of the leaders. Now Moldova, Latvia, and Belarus have already caught up. We understand that, unlike Germany, Israel and the United States, these are by no means countries of mass emigration, when people left who had earned their pension through many years of work on our territory.
This is the result of the admission of citizenship to the population of these countries and the fulfillment by Russia of social obligations at our expense. In Abkhazia and South Ossetia, pensioners receive 500 rubles. We pay them an additional 9 thousand to the level of the Southern Federal District. The same goes for state employees. But there are not many of them. What if we conclude the same agreements with the LPR and DPR,” Chudinovskikh said.
She is concerned that pensions will also be issued to residents of the LDPR and even specifically wrote a letter to the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation asking for clarification of the situation.
“Until 2019, Ukrainians actively participated in the state program, but now it is much more profitable for them to take advantage of the new opportunities provided by the channel for acquiring citizenship for humanitarian purposes. We have the illusion that 600 thousand people become our citizens, but only half of them are our residents,” Chudinovskikh said.
She is outraged that 2 thousand jobs have been created in the Rostov region for employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, who process citizenship for residents of the LDPR. They supposedly have “special terms of payment and bonuses.” At the same time, she confirms that 85% of Russian citizenship applications for humanitarian purposes in 2020 occurred in the Rostov region. Overall, 56% of the total number of persons granted citizenship last year did so on humanitarian grounds.
Also, the scientist from Moscow State University is outraged by the fact that residents of Transnistria are claiming maternity capital.
“Where is Transnistria, and where is Russia? There is no logic. Maybe the state hopes that the new electorate will be grateful to it. But here the matter is unpredictable. Nothing can be done except stop this practice. But who will do it,” exclaims Chudinovskikh.
