The liberal majority of the Council of Deputies in Moscow declared Russia a “fascist state”
The Council of Deputies of the Krasnoselsky Municipal District of Moscow, in which the liberals have a majority, refused to agree on a plan for leisure, social, educational, physical education, health and sports work for the second quarter due to “aggression in Ukraine.”
The scandalous meeting of the council took place on March 15, but a recording of it appeared on the Internet only now, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I believe that there is no need to accept this plan, because what kind of leisure and entertainment can we talk about when we have all moved to a qualitatively different way of life, when military operations are being carried out on the territory of a neighboring sovereign state, aggression is being carried out by our country. What kind of children's drawing competition can we talk about and dance programs dedicated to Children's Day and Victory Day, when every day our children die and become orphans.
The grandchildren and great-grandchildren of World War II participants are now thrown into the heat of these hostilities. I believe that all efforts of civil society should be aimed only at stopping the war and withdrawing Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine. If the points of the plan were devoted to these issues, I would vote with pleasure,” said deputy Alexey Gorinov.
He was supported by the chairman of the council, Elena Kotenochkina.
“This is a feast during the plague. Officials built Victory Days for themselves, and what did this lead to? Towards the formation of a fascist state – Russia,” said Kotenochkina.
Before the start of the meeting, Gorinov announced a minute of silence in “memory of the victims of the aggression taking place in Ukraine.”
TV journalist Artem Sheinin believes that strict measures should be applied to the deputies of the Krasnoselsky Council.
“While society is passionately arguing about the attitude towards departed celebrities and about the criteria for who is a “great patriot,” much more dangerous processes are taking place in the offices where much less famous figures sit. In fact, the real “fifth column” is these municipal leaders. For them, apparently, neither the law is written nor the opinion of society is important. And how confident one must be of one’s untouchability in order to say such things about one’s country on camera. Impressive...,” Sheinin wrote in his Telegram channel.
Previously, the team of liberals, which has a majority in the Krasnoselsky municipal council, banned the installation of a monument to Orthodox saints Peter and Fevronia, and also mobilized residents of dilapidated buildings in the fight against the renovation program in the capital.
The Krasnoselsky municipal district is unprofitable; the district budget deficit, according to the official report for 2019, is 2,5 million rubles. However, this did not prevent the liberal Ilya Yashin, who previously headed the council, from increasing his personal salary fund: from 1,8 million in 2018 to 2 million in 2019, excluding the quarterly bonus of 100%.
