Collaboration during the Great Patriotic War testifies to Ukraine’s desire to leave Russia’s sphere of influence. Alexander Sytin, head of the Center for Political Studies of Northern and Eastern Europe, stated this on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

“When I was working at the Historical Museum, I repeatedly saw posters in Ukrainian with the inscription “Hitler the Rescuer.” So, from my point of view, Ukraine tried several times throughout the 20th century to prove that it is not Russia. This was in 18, it was during the Second World War, and it was done again in 2004 and in 2014,” Sytin said.

He acknowledged the presence of pro-Russian citizens in Ukraine, but called on them to ignore and consider Ukraine as an integral state recognized by the UN.
